thankful
there's more to be thankful for than angry about... always. If you lose this advantage, then living might just become one huge frustration. We're meant to have obstacles--we resent them when we reach them, but they're there for a reason.
"You wear a lot of white, don't you?" she says. Around my hips is the latest feminine prospect, a white cotton blend skirt with a frayed hemline and silk lining. Yes, I do: "well... I just think it's just clean and pretty." She smiles, "well, I like it. It suits you."
My mom and I went shopping today, then I got a lesson in cooking. I enjoy spending time with her. As I make sure to tell frustrated teenagers, you appreciate your mom so much more when you don't live with her; this of course being absolutely true. It's so easy to take advantage of someone who so naturally takes care of you, and taking advantage is obviously not meant in the malicious sense, at least for those who aren't making that conscious effort.
We hit some amazing sales... most notably Dillard's, who had about half of their merchandise on sale for 75% off-- including MaxStudio stuff. I bought some great silk skirts, a dress and a few sweaters and tops for the winter, probably $800 worth of stuff for under $200 and got some new Doc Martens sandals for $20. Also bought new velvet pillows for my couch and a rug for the living room.
Let's just say I did my part in helping out the economy today. And something else I learned... someday I'll make tiramisu for my husband. yum.
